Little Leftover Ballerina Ragdoll

Have you ever tried dying fabric? Well, I've tried a few things. You know, tea and berries, but I never thought of trying avacado pits.  I bet you're thinking it will make the fabric tan or green but ....

I know...amazing...
So I used that for my ballerina doll along with some (left over) yarn, (leftover) cotton legs, (leftover from Kara's wedding) tulle and she's lovely♡

Waiting for Baby J

Well, my spring break comes to a close with snow on the ground but I don't care since I now have a healthy, beautiful grandson! While we waited for him to arrive, I made some dolls...
Two are made from some organic cotton jersey left over from an outfit I made my granddaughter and the others are made from new tan muslin. All have upcycled hair and clothing.

I think these two are my favorites:)

Snow Hikes and Summer Dreaming

Went for a beautiful snowy hike today with my handsome guy!

Once home I was able to finish a summer dress for my little sweetie. After seeing some adorably trimmed dresses on Pinterest I knew exactly what I wanted to make out of this denim shirt I found at my favorite thrift store.  I know they look almost the same but I had to remove the top from the skirt, resize and then gather and sew the skirt back on. It took me longer than I thought it would but still....super cute:)
Hope you had a chance to spend some time outside today too!

Never been worn....
Ready for some summer:)

Valentine girl❤️

Happy Valentine's Day! Since I'll be spending tomorrow with my sweet granddaughter,  I wanted to make her some late winter clothes.  I've had this organic cotton butterfly fabric for a while and decided to mix it with a skirt and leggings both made from t shirts.  The pattern is a super easy Simplicity 1023.

Next I wanted to use this gigantic "I ☘beer " t shirt to make her a St. Patrick's day shirt that was a little more appropriate for a a two year old;) Can't wait to try them on her tomorrow!

T shirts to Baby Boy Rompers

Project Baby Boy continues....
Found some great Michigan T Shirts at my favorite thrift store in Ann Arbor to refashion for baby boy. I think they're about 6-9 mos. size which should be perfect for my much anticipated grandson due in April❤️.

Back to refashioning....

Project Baby Boy

Where do you find really soft cotton to make baby clothes? My favorite thrift store of course!

Since I used the super soft men's shirt I found for $2, I didn't even have to put the snaps on!
I reused a zipper from a dress for diaper access. Can't wait to hold that little guy <3.

Snow Day Refashion

A snow day means many things to teachers everywhere. Most sleep in, read, or get some housework done. Me? I get up earlier than usual and start my mess making! Here's what I've done....so far:)
Crying because I miss school so much;)

One of my dollar items from the weekend was this beautiful silk blouse that was just a tad short (which never happens when you're barely 5'3). I was going to just use the fabric for doll clothes but couldn't give up that perfect turquoise from my almost totally black and gray wardrobe. The black blouse was my daughter's (thenewtriathletekara.blogspot.com) and had a missing button and small tear.
Well...lets see how many more messes I can make today...it's not even lunch time...
Had just enough silk left over for a cape for Lulu the unicorn (made of new fabric).

Refashion Times Two

It was a perfect winter weekend for creating (messes) around here. Stopped by my favorite thrift store, after buying some addicting honey roasted peanut butter, and found this green, stretch, corduroy shirt for $1.00 (well, you had to buy five items to make them each a dollar, but, still).

After some encouragement from by husband, some snipping, and stitching...a skirt...
With the sleeves I made these adorable baby pants(new grandson on the way❤️)...

I was even brave enough to wear the skirt while teaching the next day...
Brave...I know!
Two refashions for one, So Much Fun!
